Last night was not a good night. Grace has not been eating well, coughing a lot, and throwing up. Denise took her to the doctor today and they sent them to Kosair. Grace has RSV. It is not the worse thing she could have. If the RSV test had come back negative, they were going to do a spinal tap!!!!
They are keeping her overnight for observation and suctioning her out. If we had one of those vaccum pumps at home, I think that is all we would need. She is still running a fever but when I left tonight she was breathing better. The other RSV kid in the room was much worse and they were sucking out his lungs not just his nose and had him on O2. Hopefully they will come home tomorrow.

One Month Check-up
Grace went to the pediatrician today for her one month well baby check-up --- yes, she is five weeks old today. She weighed in at 8 lbs 5 1/2 oz. and 20 1/2 inches. She is in the twenty-fifth percentile for both weight and height. That is quite a switch from her big brother!
Dr. Shiner also checked her cold symptoms out. Grace has been coughing and congested since Sunday night. She has been so stopped up and miserable that both Mom and Dad have been really concerned about her. Sometimes she coughs so hard that she vomits and sounds like she's strangling. Anyhow . . . Dr. Shiner said that her symptoms are similar to those of bronchialitis. She said that most babies get better without any medical intervention. If she gets a fever again or if her symptoms get worse, then we are to go to the ER or back to the doctor's office.
We can't wait for her to feel better!

Sick Kids
Gabriel had a horrible cold all weekend. He stayed home with Mommy today because his runny nose, congestion, and cough were still bad. Last night Grace came down with the same symptoms. She has a goopy nose, head congestion, and a terrible cough. She started running a low grade temperature too. I hate it when our kids are sick. I know that there are a lot of worse things than colds, but it is still hard to see them feeling so miserable.

Stair Sliding
Gabriel has developed a new method of going down the stairs. It is slightly lazier than walking, but it looks like fun.

Birthday Dinner
Here's the whole gang . . . Mommy, Daddy, Grace, Papa, Uncle Brian, Grandma, and Gabriel.
Gabriel enjoys eating spaghetti and pizza margherita.
Grandma and Uncle Brian enjoyed dinner.
Daddy holds a sleeping Grace while the rest of us have some dessert.
Thank goodness, Grace slept through much of dinner. Today was not her best day. She was either eating or crying most of the day. Mommy was afraid that she would have to spend dinner time consoling Grace while the rest of the family ate dinner.
The Holdaway Family had dinner at Buca di Beppo's to celebrate Grandma and Mommy's birthday. Dinner was yummy and the company was even better!

Paci
Grace has been having some discomfort because of gas, which is expected for a newborn. To help her soothe herself, we have given her a pacifier. I am not a fan of pacifiers and really don't like to see babies with pacifiers in their mouths all the time, but for a short time it won't hurt to let her soothe herself with a pacifier. Gabriel was a little paci-addict for a few months until his digestive system matured and the gas troubles eased. He didn't take a pacifier after that. Hopefully, it will be that easy with our baby girl.

Helping Mommy
Mommy is teaching Gracie how to update the blog! No, not really. I just wanted a couple of new pictures of her to post.
She seems to have her days and nights a little confused right now. She was up most of the night last night. If it wasn't gas keeping her from sleeping, then she just acted like she wasn't sleepy. She has made up for it by sleeping most of the day today.
