The kids LOVE going on adventures in the woods with Daddy. When he told them last night that they could go on an adventure after they ate their dinner, the kiddos gobbled up dinner and were ready to hit the trail.
Dan told Grace that she needed to wear a hat to go into the woods, so she came out of her bedroom wearing a fleece toboggan and scarf. Ha ha! She is so silly!
When we got down to the creek, the water was pretty high. I said that I thought the creek was too high to walk in, and Daddy agreed. Grace piped up and said, "Well, this wasn't a very fun adventure!"
Daddy couldn't have a not-fun adventure, so off they went into the creek. I stayed on dry (warm) land.
They walked around looking at little fish, shells, and rocks. They walked from one side of the creek to the other. Then we headed back toward the house.
As we walked back toward the house, we stopped to see some deer paths and some animal tracks in the mud.
I love seeing the awe and amazement in the kids' eyes when they go on adventures with Daddy. To them he is everything and he knows everything. He is an explorer, an adventurer, a scientist, a teacher, a fixer-of-all-things, a chef, a doctor, and a protector. He is a superhero in their eyes, and that is just the way it should be.
