We had a fun play date yesterday with the McAfee's and the Lewis' at Chuck E. Cheese.
Gabriel, Jackson, and Sam are three peas in a pod. They were playing Mario Cart as soon as they had a chance.
Gabriel ran into Jake (from Staci's) there. They were glad to see each other. I can't remember the last time they saw each other.
Grace LOVED this photo machine! She was making all sorts of silly faces, and her picture would print out on a card.
Grace and Darbi had their own way of playing Skeeball. If you saw her scores, you would know that she was not cheating to get extra tickets. She just couldn't get the ball all the way down to the rings any other way. We were still told to keep them off of the game. Boo!
Sam played this game where you bounce a ball in a hole and get the number of tickets marked on the circle around the hole. He got so many tickets playing this game!
Grace drove the bus.
Darbi was her passenger.
The Three Muskateers again
When the kids turned in their tickets, they chose the GIANT sucker as their prize. Have I ever said that I hate suckers? I do. They are sticky and messy. I think I had a little panic attack while opening them for the kids.
After Chuck E. Cheese, the kids came back to our house to play. Darbi wanted to paint nails, so Grace got out the Hello Kitty nail polish.
Darbi wanted to paint everyone's nails. She even painted Jake's. Ha!
The big boys played Mario on the computer. They're obsessed.

Holdaway Family Reunion
Thursday through Sunday afternoon, the Holdaway family reunion was held at Versailles State Park. It was one of the hottest reunions ever, if not THE hottest reunion ever.
These were the little kids present Thursday night. We were sweating even after the sun went down. From left to right are Grace, Matthew, Anthony, Andrew, Claire, Maria, and Gabriel.
On the way to the reunion, we stopped at Sonic and picked up some early dinner. These goofy toys were in the kid's meals. They were very entertaining toys; Grace was still playing with hers Friday morning.
The boys played "Harry Potter" for a while on Friday morning.
Maria, Grace, Gabriel, and Anthony hopped up on this rail and pretended it was a fire truck.
During the hottest part of the day, we went to lunch at McDonald's for good ole a/c. Then we went to the pool.
Unfortunately, the pool felt more like a warm bath than a refreshing swim. However, swimming in a warm bath is better than swimming in your own sweat.
The kids LOVED this slide!
I bet they went down the slide a dozen times. It was a pretty big slide with three good turns.
Denni is one of Grace's favorite people at the Holdaway reunion. She is so good with the kids.
During a pool break, the kids played in the baby pool.
I tried to get them together for a picture, but no dice. Grace was trying to tickle Anthony in this picture, not choke him . . . really.Friday evening, Michele hooked a sprinkler up for the kids to play in. When I went back to the rec. hall where the adults were sitting in their traditional circle talking, someone asked me if I'd been in the sprinkler too. I replied, "No. This is my sweat." My shirt was so wet it looked like I'd been in the sprinkler with the kids.
Josh brought a praying mantis with him. Grace and Mikey were so in awe of Josh and his praying mantis. They stood and talked to Josh about the praying mantis for the longest time.
Someone found a queen snake coiled up in the grass. Once the majority of the group walked away, I picked it up to show the kids who were playing in the sprinkler.
Gabriel had to have a snack.
Saturday morning, Gabriel decided to pull Grace in the wagon up the hill to breakfast.
Not long after breakfast, the cute pig tails were gone, and Grace was eating fruit snacks for a snack.
Before heading the pool again on Saturday afternoon, we did a group picture of the Ed Holdaway family. We miss Erin in our picture, but we don't get together like this very often.
Saturday evening the kids decorated bug jars. They had a competition to see who could collect the most bugs. Annabelle's friend, Renee, collect about 40 bugs in her jar. Whoa!
Gabriel hung out with the adults for a while before bed Saturday night. He and his uncles do some silly things. Are they supposed to be the Thinking Men here??? Ha ha!
I think after this year, we need to bring back the I Survived the Holdaway Reunion t-shirts!

Grace Sings
Hickory Dickory Dock
Grace came home Monday singing some songs she'd learned at school. Dan and I really enjoyed her little performance.
Little Bumblebee
She got a little confused while singing this song for the camera, and she sang the same verse about four times. Dan helped her a little. The first time she sang it for us, though, she did a great job.
Blog Kids Playdate
Jami arranged for a group of moms-who-blog to get together with the kiddos for a play date this week. There were seven moms and 15 kids gathered in the McAfee's basement.s
Of course the kids could not wait to play Mario on the Wii. For a short time Grace played with Jackson and Sam.
Pierce, Levi, and Maggie played this Whack-a-Mole.
Look at all of the kids eating lunch! Oh my! Papa John's pizza, chips, fruit, veggies, yogurt, and cookies . . . sounds like lunch for little champions, if you ask me!
Darbi and Grace played together.
The Three Muskateers were back at Mario as soon as lunch was over.
It was a hoot trying to get all fifteen kids in a group picture. Nora was crying. Cameron was NOT interested in being in the picture. Grace was showing off her panties. What a mess! There were a few angels in the group. Take a look at Jackson, Darbi, and Hope cheesing for all it's worth!
We tried to get some of the older boys to take pictures of the moms together. This is Gabriel's attempt with my camera. Nice try, Buddy!
Jake snagged the bag of cookies off of the kitchen counter. He is one funny little boy!
Thanks, Alicia, for hosting the play date. We all had fun and enjoyed a little dose of chaos. Ha!

Almost Ready, Sam!
A week or so ago, Sam asked if our house was ready yet, so he could come over and play. Today my job was organizing the play room and unpack toys. It isn't the vision of perfection that I had in my mind yet, but we are very excited that toys are unpacked and accessible to the kids.
Another shout-out to the McAfee's:
At Charlestown Park Saturday, Grace was picking up tulip poplar leaves from the grass and putting them in bunches. As she picked them up, she would explain to Grandma, "This is a mommy leaf, and this is a daddy leaf. This is a Gracie leaf, and this one is a Gabriel leaf." When she picked up a small leaf, she said, "This is a baby leaf." Mom asked her what the baby's name is, and asked if the baby's name might be Nora. Grace immediately answered, "No, it doesn't have a bow." Ha Ha!

Laid Back Saturday
I had the brilliant idea Saturday morning to go to the 4-H Fair. The kids and I have never been, and I thought that it would be a ton of fun. I looked at the Clark County 4-H website and saw that Saturday was the last day of the fair. There were no fair hours listed so by looking at all of the information on the website, I inferred that it must open at 10 a.m. We invited Grandma and Papaw to go with us, and we were off. When we got to the 4-H fairgrounds, it was dead . . . no cars, no rides going, no food vendors cooking. A nice lady stopped and talked to my mom and informed us that the rides would open at 6 p.m., but everything else was closed. The kids and I were bummed. So that all was not lost, we decided to have a picnic lunch at Charlestown Park. We trekked over to JayC for some of their yummy fried chicken.
We must have been hungry. Look at all of that food! It was a tasty picnic though.
Gabriel and Grace loved the tire swing on the playground.
I loved hearing their giggles.
After a few minutes, though, Gabriel said, "Mom, stop the swing please. I'm feeling a little sick." This poor kid is SO prone to motion sickness. I feel bad for him.
Grace still wanted to swing.
While Gabriel and I went to another area of the playground, Grandma pushed Grace on the swing.
Papaw tried to help Grace swing too. Ha!
Gabriel slid down the fireman's pole.
He also tried out the monkey bars. He's not quite strong enough.
Later that evening, we had dinner at Grandma and Papaw's house. After dinner, Grandma and I made jewelry while the kids watched movies.
