Sunday morning we were up and packing to leave pretty early. It was a very cold morning, and there was a dusting of snow on the ground in a lot places. This little doe was right outside our cabin, so we decided to feed her. Papaw fed her grapes. The kids fed her 3/4 of a loaf of bread. They fed her all of the left over lettuce, and then I cut up an apple for her. She ate and ate and did not seem to scared of the kids.
I think she finally got full and started to walk away. As she walked toward the trees, she turned around and looked at us and let out the loudest belch. It was absolutely hilarious! I doubt I will ever hear a deer belch again in my life . . . it was priceless. I think it was her way of saying Thank you.
We stopped in Beckley to get brunch. We have to wait until we are well on our way on I-64 because Gabriel gets so car sick. We have to travel down the mountains on empty stomachs. Grace chose pizza from Sbarro's. This pizza was the size of her head, and she loved it! She was only able to eat about half of it, but it was so funny to see such a little girl with a giant slice of pizza.
