Tri-It Kids Triathlon

Yesterday was the BIG day for Gabriel and Sam . . .  the Tri-It Kids Triathlon!  They trained all week for the triathlon.

We had tee-shirts and signs to cheer our little athletes on!

  The boys set up their transition area with their bicycles, helmets, towels, water, running shoes, and socks.

  Every athlete had their race number, age, and wave number written on their body.

Here are waves 5 through 10 waiting for their turn to start the race.

Grace and Dan waited for Gabriel to start his swim.  This picture was taken by The Courier-Journal and posted on their website.

Gabriel started the swim portion of the race, and I took off for the transition area to help him get ready for the biking portion.

The racers biked across the street into Perrin Park and back.

Gabriel had quite an entourage to cheer him on:  Daddy, Grace, Grandma, Papaw, Carly, Robbie, and Riley.

Gabriel ran across the mats to transition to the running portion.

I am so proud of these boys for all of their hard work at camp and for finishing the triathlon.  What an amazing accomplishment!

At the awards ceremony following the race . . . Gabriel and Sam did not win trophies at the awards ceremony, but the medal for finishing the race is the most important award.  Every kid who participated did an amazing job.
