Indianapolis Children's Museum
We went to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis on Wednesday. It was such a great day filled with lots of exploring. Grace was in awe of the giant Barbie.
The Bob the Builder exhibit was open. It was a perfect exhibit for kiddos the ages of ours.
We got there just in time for a Bob the Builder story time.
This water pump was so much fun for Grace. She and Jake stuffed the balls inside the little hole. Then kids on the other side, for the most part Sam, opened the valve and pumped them into buckets.
This was a neat little area where kids could pretend to build a house. Gabriel chose to slide instead of build.
Next we went to an exhibit about dinosaurs! Dan and Gabriel used putty to put a skin on the outside of this dragon head.
I took this picture of the dinosaur exhibit on the lower level. The picture was taken from the third floor overlook. It was such a cool exhibit.
Grace dressed in a dinosaur costume and pretended to roar like a dinosaur. She was so funny. She has a fierce roar.
Sam and Gabriel did some sifting of dinosaur fossils. The found pieces of bone and teeth.
There was an area where the kids could dig up dinosaur bones. It was so cute seeing them all wearing the goggles and taking their jobs so seriously.
Gabriel was rockin' the protective eyewear.
We saw a show about Tyrannosaurs Rex.
After the dinosaur exhibit, we went to see the train exhibit.
Grace talked on the telephone inside a model of a conductor's office.
The "big" kids, Sam, Gabriel, and Grace, sat inside the Indy car.
The big boys fished at the water table.
Next, the kiddos hit the sand table. They played with sand for quite a while.
Grace played with Jake at a construction site with big plush blocks.
Funny story: Grace was working this hand car and having a good time with it. She got out to take the blocks out of the basket in front. As soon as she turned around to get back in the driver seat of the car, another girl sat down and took off in the hand car. Grace crossed her little arms SO indignantly and said, "That not fair!" Then she looked at me like, "Get her, Mom." Unfortunately, when a play area is as busy as this, there isn't much you can do . . . you just have to move on to the next thing.
Gabriel ran the hand car into Daniel's leg. Daniel totally saw it coming and just played along.
We went to the Science Works area. Upstairs was a little science lab where Gabriel got to do a craft with beans.
While we were in Science Works, Sam and Gabriel met a superhero! How lucky were they!
We couldn't possibly call our trip complete without a ride on the carousel.
Grace played house with Daddy.
Our last stop was the Barbie exhibit. I would have had SO much fun there if Grace had been a little older. It was such a fun, girly exhibit. Daddy called it Barbie Hell. Haha!
We left the museum about 4:30. Grace almost fell asleep in the stroller on the way out of the museum. This was her at the second stoplight outside the museum --- less than two blocks from the parking garage. I love that she had a goldfish cracker in her hand when she fell asleep.
We stopped at Seymour to have some dinner because we knew it would be late (for us to eat dinner) when we got home.
Cracker Barrel is some yummy eats.
What a great day! Thanks, McAfee Family, for meeting us there! Let's do it again this summer!
