Grace and I went to the zoo this morning for a 2 by 2 class. It was about animal mouths, Mouths, Teeth, and Beaks. The first thing we did was inspect our own mouths with a mirror. We looked at our teeth and our tongues and talked about how people use their mouths to eat.
Then we talked about animals that do not have teeth, specifically birds. The kids each received a paper beak to color.
In the car, Grace was holding her beak up to her nose and saying, "Oink! Oink!" Then she cracked herself up laughing. It was too funny!
Next, we got to meet Tootie, and we watched Tootie eat some peanuts and sunflower seeds. (I forgot my camera, so these were taken with my phone. Sorry they're a little blurry.)
We got to pet some animals too --- a bearded dragon and a ferret. Finally, we went on a zoo walk and saw the giraffes eating leaves out of the trees.
It was a fun class! Next week we get to learn about arms and wings; we are excited!
