Not a great picture of me, but Gabriel is always cute! After Grace's zoo class, we walked over to the new Sea Lion and Seal exhibit. We got there 15 minutes before the sea lion show, so we decided to wait to see the show. I came to the zoo completely unprepared for walking around or doing activities, so I broke the cardinal rule of parenting . . . I had no snacks on hand!!! To entertain the kids for 15 minutes, we ate Listerine strips! Yes, that's crazy, but whatever . . . . We had our seats and it was standing room only. There was NO WAY I was getting up to buy a snack and losing our seats.
Miss Whitney gave everyone a free pass to ride the carousel. Gabriel chose the chariot. He said the up and down of the horses makes him sick. He's probably right. The poor kid is SO prone to motion sickness.
Grace wanted to ride the giraffe.
Grace had her last zoo class today, and the kids learned about animal noses. I forgot my camera (ugh!) so I don't have any pictures. I wish I did because there were some cute moments. For example, Grace loved her teacher, Miss Whitney. When we went on our zoo walk today, Grace insisted on holding Miss Whitney's hand. If Miss Whitney was talking to another parent about an animal, Grace went over and grabbed her hand and stood by her until she was ready to walk again. It was cute. The kids did a cute activity where they colored a cut-out skunk, and Miss Whitney dipped a cotton ball in an essential oil and taped it to their decorated skunk. Gabriel had already helped Miss Whitney tape some larger skunks on the wall which also had cotton balls on them. The kids had to smell their cotton balls and match the smell to one of the cotton balls hanging on the skunk on the wall. Our cotton ball smelled orange . . . Mmmm. Today's animals to pet were a ferret, a rabbit, and a hedgehog. Grace had such fun participating in her zoo class! We can't wait to do another next year!
