Grace and Mommy have been plagued with thrush since the end of November. We are giving it back and forth to each other through nursing and can't seem to shake it. Last night we started, yet another, OTC remedy called gentian violet. It is a dark purple liquid that I apply to my breast after nursing and allow to dry. Then we I nurse Grace, it treats her mouth and turns it purple. We are going to the Cincinnati Children's Hospital on Wednesday to get treatment from a doctor there who specialized in breastfeeding medicine. I hope that this gentian violet helps. I REALLY hope that the doctor in Cincinnati helps us kick it once and for all. Anyhow, until the doctor tells us to stop the gentian violet or until this thrush is gone, her beautiful little mouth will be purple!
