I Scream, You Scream

We all scream for ICE CREAM!
Ice cream trucks don't go through our neighborhood very often. So when we heard one heading down our street last night, we thought we would enjoy a little treat.
Grace wanted a Sponge Bob pop.
Gabriel ordered an Iron Man pop.
It was cute to see them trade bites! Notice that Grace's cast is in a bag here. I thought it would be best to try to keep the sticky ice cream off of the cast And, boy, was I right!
I had two sticky messy kids after those ice cream pops. It was a fun treat though!

Just Another Manic Monday

After going to the orthopedist, we did some puzzles.

This one was funny because Grace was going to hold the finished puzzle up for a picture. As soon as she held it up, it started to fall apart. You can see her open-mouth of surprise.
After puzzles, the kiddos went outside to ride their truck and to mow the lawn.

Grace was going to "fix" her lawn mower. Haha!

Orange?

The orthopedist saw Grace this afternoon. She chose orange as her cast color. Okay? Dr. Bauer put the cast above the elbow because given her age and the small size of her hands, she could have pulled out of a cast below the elbow. She goes back in a week to check the placement of the bones, just to be sure that no movement has occurred inside the cast. The doctor suspects that two weeks after that she can have her cast removed. So she should be in a cast a total of three weeks.

Adventures of the One-Armed Bandits

Our weekend highlights in pictures . . . .

One arm or two . . . we're not letting it get us down!

Giddy-up

When you ask Grace what a horsey says, she always replies, "Gid-yyyyy-uuuuupppp!" She adds a bouncing motion to go with the sound effects too. It's so funny and so cute that we've never corrected her. Even now, when Gabriel tries to correct her, we tell him to leave her alone. I've said for so long that I wanted to get a video of her "Giddy-up", and it's taken me until this past week to actually do it.

SHE with the Biggest Splint Wins!

Yes, Grace broke her arm in two places above the wrist in the bounce house. She is so opposite from Gabriel though. In the car as we left the immediate care center, she said, "I love my new splint!" For her it was like new clothes or a fashion accessory. Haha!
Here she is waiting to see a doctor. Daddy let her play with his phone while we waited. Boy, was that a treat!!
The nurse brought Grace an ice pack for her arm when we got there. Grace was a champ at the immediate care center. She answered their questions, she did what they asked her to do, and she never shed a tear. I'm sure she was the cutest patient they'd seen all day.
Grandma and Papaw met us at the immediate care center and took Gabriel back to their house while we took care of Grace. We picked him up after we left the immediate care center, and Grandma got a few minutes of cuddle time with her babes before we headed home. I know it's a terrible picture, but it was a Kodak moment.

Landon's Birthday Party

We went to the Bowers' last night to help Landon celebrate his 3rd birthday. Melissa and Jeremy served a kid-friendly buffet of Little Caesar's pizza which made Grace quite happy. She talked on the toy cell phone the entire time she ate.

Landon had a construction themed birthday party. The decorations, party favors, and cake were so cute!
Of course, Gabriel enjoyed the cake the most.
Landon opened gifts, with some help.
I told you the party favors were cute! Grace loved her construction smock, hard hat, and mini measuring tape.
The kiddos played outside while they waited to do the pinata. Grace has certainly outgrown this baby swing, but she didn't care.
Pinata Time!!!
Grace filled her bag with loot for a moment then took off for more play time.
Gabriel stuck around for more loot.
The kids were so excited to play in Landon's bounce house.
Bouncing
more bouncing
Uh-oh! Tears! Our party time ended here with a trip to the immediate care center.

Melissa, Jeremy, Landon, Sally, and Dennis:
Thank you for inviting us to Landon's party! Despite our abrupt exit, the kids had a great time. They love their goody boxes! We hope Landon had a great 3rd birthday and that we get to play together again soon!

Uh-oh!

I know that it's hard to see what this is . . . .

While Daddy adjusted car seats in the van this week, Grace was busy putting coins in places they don't belong. We got the coins out of the CD player. I didn't realize that there were coins in the air conditioner control until Gabriel informed me from the backseat yesterday. GREAT! GRRRR!

Craft Time

In order to stay out of the heat, we decided to do some crafts. I bought a bunch of foam stickers at Michael's and some foam drink holders.
The kids decorated the drink holders with the stickers, and we are going to give them as gifts to some special people.
I love the concentration on her face. I think the kids' drink holders turned out so cute!

We went to the library last night to see a birds of prey presentation. Before the presentation, the kids and I acted silly with the camera.
Here are Dan and Gabriel listening to the presentation. We stayed for an hour and a half of the presentation. It was very interesting and packed full of information, but it was not interactive enough for little ones. Grace got a little antsy, so we went upstairs to read books.
This is a red-tail hawk named Ginger. Ginger is a beautiful bird, but she was injured badly by hunters and could not be released to the wild.

Sand Art

Uncle Brian and Erin took a trip to Europe sometime last year. They brought Gabriel this beautiful bottle shaped like the Eiffel Tower that was filled with candy. The candy has been gone for quite sometime now, but I saved the bottle with the intention of letting Gabriel do some sand art with it. That way the bottle would become a keepsake for him. Today we FINALLY did the sand art that I have been planning for so long. He did a very nice job, and his bottle looks great!

Puppet Show

We went to the Jeffersonville Library last night to see a puppet show. The Youth Advisory Board for the library performed their own version of The Dish and the Spoon.
After the show the performers showed the audience the different kinds of puppets they used in the show. Most of the puppets had been made by the performers.
After the show we went out into the library to read a few books.
While Daddy and Gabriel read books, Grace did a few puzzles.
We found Gabriel's name on the wall showing that he is signed-up to be part of their summer reading program. We got a late start, but we are already earning points!
