Clarksville firemen came through our neighborhood last night collecting money for Crusade for Children. We heard their sirens as they made their way through the neighborhood, and it seemed like it was taking them forever to make their way to us. Our house is typically the LAST house in the neighborhood that they come to. Instead of waiting for them, we decided to take a walk and find them.
We found the fire truck at the opposite end of our street from our house. It was a nice little walk for two-year-old legs.
Gabriel waited patiently and waved until the truck stopped for us.
Gabriel put the money in the bucket one quarter at a time. The guy collecting was very patient with him.
A fireman got out of the truck and let Gabriel stand inside the truck. He was a little excited, but a little scared too.
We walked back home and waited in our yard for them to come past our house. They blew their horn and turned on the sirens all the way down the street for Gabriel. The noise scared him a little. I didn't mind because it meant that he wanted me to hold him.
This was the view we had of the fire truck as it came down the street.
