When Grace had her ear infection in October, Gabriel got a little jealous of her taking medicine. He would ask for medicine as well. Coincidentally, when we traveled to West Virginia, we gave Gabriel medicine, too, for car sickness. Needless to say, he enjoyed it. Ever since, he has asked for medicine at bedtime and tells us that his belly hurts. We have been placating him with some tap water in the syringe.
I have not been comfortable with this practice because I don't want him to feel dependent on "medicine" in order to go to bed. So the other night when he asked for medicine, I said, "I think we're out of medicine. We have to get some more at the store."
To which he replied, "No you're not. It just water that you drink! It in the sink!"
HA! Joke's on us! Here we thought that we were fooling him by giving him water in a syringe and calling it medicine. In reality he was fooling us by taking it and pretending to believe that it was medicine.
