Bowling Birthday

Gabriel celebrated his 5th birthday Saturday afternoon with a bowling party at Blackiston Bowl. It's so hard to believe that he's turning 5 years old, and he will be starting kindergarten in the Fall. I feel like I gave birth to him just a few weeks ago. Time flies when you're having fun! And since God has blessed us with this kiddo, we've had a ton of fun!
This is Gabriel's friend, Jake. Jake is Gabriel's buddy from Mrs. Staci's house. When Gabriel started staying at Mrs. Staci's house, he was 7 months old and Jake was nearly 2. Now, Jake is 6, and Gabriel is turning 5 . . . hard to believe.
The kids had a ball bowling. Here are Gabriel and Jake checking out the scoreboard. I'm not sure if they wanted to see whose turn it was or if they were already worried about who was winning.
Dan spend a lot of time visiting with PawPaw. He doesn't get to do that very often.
Grace was WAY too busy to sit in Papaw's lap.
Gabriel had this thing about getting a running start toward the lane, then launching the ball as hard as he could.
Grace had a slow little trot up to the lane and a weak little push to get the ball down the lane. It took her ball FOREVER to get to the pins.
A little more than halfway through the big boys' game, we stopped and had some pizza for lunch.
Then the bowling continued. Zach was so cute . . . he did this every time he rolled a ball down the lane.
Billy and Daddy solved all of the world's problems, I'm sure.
Barbara, Grampy, and Grandma tried to keep Miss Grace's hands out of the cake.
Abby didn't seem to be too into the bowling thing. She bowled a few times, then wanted to color.
Here is Gabriel's power launch.
Jake M. was an awesome little bowler. We blinked one time, and he was running down the bowling lane. He made it halfway down the lane before he turned around and came back.
Sam did not look too happy with his score for that frame.
Jake had a good technique for a six year old.
When bowling was finished, it was time to have cake. Gabriel chose a Lightning McQueen cake with chocolate cake and chocolate icing.
"Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you!"
I think Jake enjoyed his cake. It's a good thing he got a piece with very little icing. I can only imagine how he'd look if he'd had a lot of icing on his cake.
Grandma helped Gabriel read his cards.
Sam and Jackson helped Gabriel open his gifts. He got some super fun gifts. I guess you'll see all about that in the NEXT post.
