Tri-It Camp

Gabriel spent every morning this past week at Tri-It Camp held by the Jeff Parks Department at the Jeffersonville Aquatic Center.

They spent the week training for a kid's triathlon on Saturday morning. They ran laps around the kiddie pool.
They did push-ups in the kiddie pool.  Gabriel needs to work on his push-up form.
The kids were given coaching and instruction on their freestyle swimming form. They practiced their straight leg kicks.
Each day of camp the kids swam a little further to gain stamina for the day of the big race.

Swimming was Gabriel's favorite part of the camp, but he also admitted that it was hard.
We bought Gabriel a pair of goggles for triathlon camp. They are very stylin'! Ha!
Gabriel had such a great time this week hanging out with Sam. It seemed like every day they were making plans for their next play date.
Starting Wednesday the kids began training for the bicycling park of the triathlon. This is where I was especially impressed with the Jeff Parks Department. They had police and fire trucks block the streets so the kids could safely ride their bikes over Perrin Park and back.
On Friday the kids walked through the order of the race and did the activities in the order they would do them on Saturday during the real triathlon.
Running was Gabriel's least favorite part of the camp.
He ran, though, and gave it his best most of the time.
At the end of camp each day, the kids got to do something fun, like going down the slide at the pool . . .
or jumping off the diving boards.

It was a great camp.  Gabriel had a great time, and he is already excited to do the camp again next summer.  I am so proud of him for working so hard at camp.  Even if he did not particularly like an activity or if he was tired, he did not complain, and he did his best.
