Ear Update

I took the kids to the doctor this morning to have their ears checked. Grace finished her last dose of medicine this morning from last week's double ear infection. Gabriel has been medication free for about two weeks now and seems to be doing well.
Gabriel's ears looked good. He had no infection and no fluid. YES!!
Grace had a very different outcome. Her ears are still infected. The next step in this ordeal started today. She got an injection of Rocephin this morning. She will go back to the doctor tomorrow for another ear check. If her ears are not better, then she has to have another injection of Rocephin. She will go back to the doctor again on Saturday --- same story. If her ears do not clear up after three Rocephin injections, then she has to have tubes.

It was heartbreaking to have to make the decision to give her the Rocephin injections. I know from experience that those injections are terribly painful --- long after the injection is over, the area still hurts. I hate that she has to go through that possibly three times, and then the final outcome is uncertain. My poor baby cried and cried after her shot this morning. She wanted her blanket, which we had left at home. She wanted to go home, but I had to go to work so she was going to daycare. I felt terrible about the entire situation.

My fingers are crossed that we get a miracle and her ears look lovely tomorrow when we go for her appointment.
